Gulchatay Restaurant is an Uzbek / Central Asian restaurant which has quickly become a destination for authentic food lovers for Brooklynites and visitors to New York City. We are serving centuries tested and preserved family chef recipes for mouthwatering food from cuisines of a Central Asian region tucked between the Caspian Sea, China and Russia.

Our name Gulchatay originates from a name of one of the well-known female characters of a famous Soviet-era movie “White sun of the desert” from 1968. As we offer the best of the best eats from a wide Central Asian region stretching from from Caspian Sea to Chinese and Russian borders, our name indicates common history and culture shared by the nations residing in this part of the world, including food and cuisine culture. Gulchatay is one of the commonly recognized cultural icons for the people of this region. Food culture, including both food preparation and consuming is a deep rooted part of the culture and social life for the nations of this vast area. We as a business and part of this unique culture would like to tribute our best efforts in preserving the best features of this food culture and offer this wonderful experience to our customers.

Very overpriced and bad quality food. I ordered shish kebabs it was burned, dry, and no taste at all. And also they... have to learn follow directions. I specifically told them to put kebabs inside the bread but they put it separately. If I knew before I would have ordered from Sherdor, Emir palace or Palmira they have much better foods and service. Also not very expensive like this restaurant. If you can avoid this place.read more
